Course Title : Internship/Library Training

Learning Outcomes:

At the end of the course, students will acquire hands on practice in library activities, operations and management of libraries.

Course Content

Introduction to vision, mission and objectives of the practicing library, induction of the library, staff and library services, training session for the trainee students in different locations and activities in the library: library counters and help desks etc; developing human relations and communication skills and competencies among the trainee students, feedback and evaluation sessions for library trainees.

Methods of Teaching and Learning: - 1. Lectures/ Tutorials/ Presentations/ Practical sessions/ Field training/ Library training/

(Trainee students will be given training for three months in a recognized library/information center. During the training period, students should undergo training on three consecutive days weekly in the training center while the other two days spend for participating lectures in the Department. Each student has to maintain a Library Training Record Book, containing the attendance, leave, the work performed, views and comments of the trainer (The Librarian in charge of the training. The Head of the DELIS will appoint a suitable Lecturer for coordinating this training programme). 2. Students should cover total 288 training hours during this training period.

Each student should prepare a Library Training Record Book/Report, based on their library training in accordance with the guidelines given by the Department.
