Course Title : Organization of Knowledge: Classification Theory

Learning Outcomes:

At the end of the course, students will be able to demonstrate their ability in organizing a verity of materials using current classification schemes.

Course Content:

Introduction to Classification, history and theory; Objectives and uses of Classification, Elements of a Classification Scheme; General and Special Classification Schemes, Enumerative and Faceted Classification Schemes; Knowledge and Library Classification ; General Classification schemes with special reference to DDC; critical study of main classes and tables; and CC, UDC and LC.
