The aim of this module is to provide an understanding of the educational, philosophical and managerial values through a study of the Olympic Movement and the philosophy of Olympism.

After completion of the course the students will be able to demonstrate develop sport and recreation programmes in relation to educational imperatives of the Olympic Movement, impart the intellectual educational concepts and values in sport and recreation settings. ,

Olympic principals, values and ideals of Olympics, history of ancient and modern Olympics, Olympic Charter, Olympic movement and politics, business, mass media, challengers facing modern Olympics, management perspectives of Olympics, ethics and Olympics, women and Olympics, environment and Olympic.

Lectures, discussions, group work, field studies, seminars

Assessment

Continuous assessment, Examination held at the end of the semester
