Senior Lecturer Dr. D.M. Ubesekara was appointed as the Head of the Department of Sociology, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Kelaniya.
The appointment letter was handed over to the Head by the acting Vice- Chancellor, Senior Prof. Lakshman Senevirathne on the 06th of April 2019 at the Vice- Chancellor’s Office.
Present at the occasion were Ms. Dhammika Ambegoda, Assistant Registrar- Academic Establishment Division and academic staff members of the Department of Sociology.
Senior Lecturer Dr. D.M. Ubesekara obtained his bachelor’s degree & Master of Social Sciences in Sociology from the University of Kelaniya and his PhD from Wuhan University, China.
He was the coordinator of the degree programmes MA and MSSC in Sociology (2011- 2013). He also served as a student counsellor from 2003- 2004.
