An open forum on “Women and Gender Studies on Social Sciences” was held on 08th of March 2021 at the Boardroom of the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Kelaniya. It was organized by the Research Centre of Social Sciences (RCSS) with the noble intention of commemorating the Women’s Day.

Objective of this forum is to promote gender based research in particular and to promote the sharing of research experience and to present the outcomes of researches conducted by the academic members of the faculty. The forum paved way for nine researchers from various disciplines of Social Sciences who are involved in research based on Gender Studies, to share their research experience.

The event was graced by Cadre Chair & Senior Prof. Nilanthi de Silva, Vice Chancellor- University of Kelaniya as the chief guest. Furthermore, Prof. M.M. Gunathilake, Dean- Faculty of Social Sciences, Senior Lecturer Dr. Dilma Koggalage, Director- Research Centre of Social Sciences and other academic staff members were present at the forum.
