W. M. Gayathri Panampitiya is a Lecturer (Probationary) in the Department of Sociology at the University of Kelaniya and was an Assistant Lecturer at the University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka. She received the Bachelor of Arts (BA) special degree in Sociology from the University of Kelaniya with First Class Honors in 2014 and Master of Social Sciences (MSSc) degree in Sociology from the University of Kelaniya with the Merit Pass in 2018. Her research interests cover several aspects of Sociology, mainly Gender, Community Development, Indigenous Knowledge on tradition and Cultural Rituals and Political Sociology. She has involved in many collaborative research projects with the Centre for Gender Studies, University of Kelaniya. She strongly believes that all people have within them the potential to be great and it’s our job to create opportunities where this potential can flourish. Hence, she is driven with an inherent passion to inspire communities to their potential of greatness and enable people to stand their own feet.
