R. M. Auchithya Rathnayake is a Lecturer (Probationary) at the Department of Sociology. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Sociology, holding a 1st class, class division. Currently, he is one of the Webmasters of the Departmental website and also he is one of the student councillors and a sub-warden of his alma mater. Auchithya Rathnayake has worked as a research assistant/coordinator/overall coordinator on numerous development projects; Heda Oya Reservoir Development Project, Kumbukkan Oya Reservoir Development Project, Light Rail Transit Development Project (LRT), Colombo Sub-urban Railway Development Project (CSRDP) and Negombo Lagoon Development Project are among them. Apart from these experiences, he has worked as an academic demonstrator at the Research Centre of Social Sciences (RCSS), University of Kelaniya.
