School Student Awareness Program at Thunduwa Muslim Central College

On the 13th of August 2024, students from the Climate Tank Accelerator Program - SL Team 07, representing the Department of Geography, University of Kelaniya, organized a School Student Awareness Program at Thunduwa Muslim Central College. The event was headed by the distinguished Dr. R. Krishnan was attended by both students and teachers of the school, creating a vibrant platform to engage with young minds on the critical issue of climate change.

The program primarily focused on raising climate change awareness among school students in the Southern Province. The choice of Thunduwa Muslim Central College underscored the event's commitment to fostering cooperation between diverse communities, demonstrating that climate action requires unity beyond borders, beliefs, and backgrounds. The participating students were encouraged to understand the global climate crisis and their potential role in combating it through collective effort and awareness.

During the program, speakers emphasized the importance of educating the younger generation on climate issues, inspiring students to be proactive in environmental stewardship. It resonated with the audience, highlighting the critical role of education in shaping a future generation capable of addressing climate change challenges.
