Eligibility
Should possess a Bachelor's Degree (General/Special) from a recognized University in History or relevant subject area or any other academic or professional qualifications acceptable to the Senate of the University of Kelaniya.
Selection of Candidates
By an interview conducted by the Department of History. Preference will be given to the candidates with the highest qualifications.

Eligibility
Should possess Bachelor's Degree (Special with a Class) from a recognized University in History or any other academic or professional qualifications acceptable to the Senate of the University of Kelaniya.
Selection of Candidates
By an interview conducted by the Department of History. Preference will be given to the candidates with the highest qualifications.
Master of Philosophy (Two Years)
Doctor of Philosophy (Three Years)
The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) program is offered by the University of Kelaniya, under the auspices of the Faculty of Graduate Studies (FGS):PhD applicants should submit a research proposal to FGS.
This will be directed to the Faculty and department upon consideration by the Board of Study. Supervisor/s will be appointed by the Board of Study, once the eligibility of the candidate is accepted, based on the proposal and a presentation made by the applicant to the senior academics of the Faculty/department.
The duration of study for a PhD is three years, with extensions possible, on recommendations by the supervisor/s. Progress reports need to be submitted to FGS via the supervisor, every 06 months.
Dissertation or thesis guidelines will be issued to the candidate once eligibility for a PhD is accepted. FGS encourages empirical research by its PhD candidates, so applicants should be prepared to conduct research, and not be depended solely on library sources or other secondary material. Read more....
