Nature and scope of Sport and Recreation management. Different approaches to management. Process of Sport and Recreation management. Planning; objectives, policies and procedures, comprehensive strategic and operational planning. Decision making. Organizing; structure, line and staff relationship, authority, delegation of authority, centralized and decentralized administration and organization as a social system. Staffing; manpower planning, selection and recruitment, evaluation of performance, development of managers. Directing; communication, coordinating, leadership and motivation. Controlling; process, programme evaluation and review techniques. Management styles. Environment and management.

Learning Outcomes 

After successful completion of course unit the students will be able to demonstrate knowledge in:

the methodological assumptions and approaches in job design to suit the sport environment and events and

the processes related to performance appraisals, staff training, career development programmes
