The Department of International Studies was established as a separate department in the Faculty of Social Sciences in 2017. Before the establishment as a department, all the degree programmes in International Studies were conducted in the Department of Economics. The Degree programmes in International Studies were initiated with 98 students in the year 2002 and 38 of them were selected to specialize in International Studies. International Studies degree programme has a uniqueness and it is much popular among students in the university as well as in the country. It carried more than 200 students in academic years from 2009 – 2014 respectively.   The department in run by young and energetic academic staff members and the founding Head of the Department is senior Lecturer.
