Launching the Prof. Kamal Karunanayake Memorial Gold Medal in Political Science - 2025
As an initial step, the wife of Prof. Kamal Karunanayake, Mrs. Kusum Karunanayake, made a financial donation to the University at the Vice Chancellor’s office on 28th April 2025 to support the annual awarding of the gold medal. On the same occasion, a felicitation volume in honour of Prof. Karunanayake was also launched. This volume was edited by the Department Editorial Board, headed by Senior Lecturer Mrs. Yamuna Niranjanee Mendis. The event was attended by the Vice Chancellor, Senior Prof. Nilanthi R. de Silva, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences Prof. M.M. Gunathilake, Head of the Department of Political Science Prof. Osantha N. Thalpawila, Mrs. Kusum Karunanayake, and the academic staff of the Department of Political Science.
