Evaluation of Online Teaching and Learning in the Faculty of Social Sciences

In response to the ongoing concerns in relation to the COVID – 19 pandemic, the Sri Lankan government has encourage all Universities, Campuses, Higher Education Institutes to promote online teaching and learning to ensure uninterrupted university education during this prevailing situation. Accordingly, online teaching and learning has been introduced by the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Kelaniya to continue academic semester 2018/2019. 

In the faculty, online teaching and learning is still at the initial stage. Therefore, we, academic community in the faculty has agreed to conduct a brief survey on this to help us to understand more on online teaching and learning environment. The objective of the survey is to identify the efficacy of online teaching and learning in our subject disciplines, positive and negative issues, bottlenecks, and problems that are facing by our students in their learning process.The evaluation will help to mitigate all negative issues, bottlenecks, and problems while further enhancing its efficacy as a tool of teaching as well as doing some practical exercises under different subject disciplines.
