Course Aims:

Intended Learning Outcomes:

At the end of the course, students will be able to acquire following skills and competencies

  • Use of computers for different types of library technical services and activities such as acquisitions, cataloguing, circulation, reservation, management and user services
  • Use of selected library software for automation of library activities.

Course Content: (Main topics, Sub topics)

Library automation, Library automation in Sri Lanka (past, present, future prospects); Integrated library software, Stand alone Library software (winisis, cds/isis, javaisis, webisis, genisis); Commercial Library software; Open sources Library software; OPACs, Web OPACs.
