Course Aims:

Intended Learning Outcomes:

At the end of the course, students will be able to gain following skills and competencies
  • Describe the internet and its applications
  • Use Internet effectively for information search and collection
  • Apply social networking sites for effective information search and delivery.
  • Evaluate virtual resources for re-designing and developing new contents

Course Content: (Main topics, Sub topics)

Internet, Internet connection concepts, mode of Internet connections, history of Internet, impact of Internet technology for libraries, Internet portals, Web 2.0 ; usage of social networking,  OPAC 2.0 concept, Introduction to semantic Web, understand the library users in techno-savvy environment, role of librarian in Web 2.0 environment; Webliography; E-resource and evaluation. Libraries and cloud computing.
