Course Aims:

Intended Learning Outcomes:

At the end of this course, students will be able to

     i. Define and use various types of research methods including data collection and                   analyzing techniques to carry out a research on chosen topic
    ii. Use computer based statistical techniques for data analysis
    iii. Avoid plagiarism
    iv.Use different types of citation methods, particularly Harvard system.                                v. Prepare bibliographies                                                                                                  vi. Write reports.

Course Content: (Main topics, Sub topics)

Research, definitions; Research methods: scientific, historical and descriptive methods; Bibliometric studies; Data collection, types of data; Data analysis: analytical techniques and presentation; Computer application in data analyzing viz.(SPSS), Literature survey and review; Plagiarism, Bibliographic referencing methods (Harvard system); citation and different styles of referencing; Writing research proposals and reports; Advances in information literacy.
