Inauguration Ceremony of Diploma in Library and Information Science 2018

The inauguration ceremony of Diploma in Library and information Science offered by the Department of Library and Information Science of the University of Kelaniya was held on the 3rd of June 2018 at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Social Sciences. This ceremony was held with the objective of introducing the course units and the academic staff to newly enrolled students. The keynote speech of the ceremony was delivered by Advocate Dr. Harischandra Wijayatunga, a language expert and a compiler of Sinhala Dictionaries whereas Prof. A.H.M.H. Abayarathne participated as the Chief Guest. The event was graced by Senior Lecturer Ven. Legumdeniye Piyarathana Thero, Head of Department of Library and Information Science, Prof. M.K. Weerasinghe, Coordinator of Diploma in Library and Information Science, Prof. W.A. Weerasooriya and the Academic Staff members of the Department. This is the 36th batch of Diploma in Library and Information Science and the batch comprises more than 200 students.
