University of Peradeniya Library Visit & Central Agricultural Library at Gannoruwa visit

The first-year students of the Department of Library and Information Science, University of Kelaniya had the privilege of visiting the Main Library, University of Peradeniya on 06th September 2024 marking an important step in their academic journey. The visit provided an invaluable opportunity to explore the vast resources, services, and facilities that the library offers, fostering a deeper understanding of the role of libraries in knowledge dissemination and academic success. We are deeply grateful to the University Librarian, Dr. R. Maheshwaran, for granting us this valuable opportunity to explore the library and its offerings. His generous support made this visit possible and allowed us to gain practical knowledge about library operations and the critical role of information management. Additionally, our heartfelt thanks extend to Deputy Librarian, Dr. Chamini Gunasekera, and Assistant Librarian, Mr. S. Jeewan, for their warm hospitality and the detailed guidance they provided throughout the visit. This visit has enriched our student’s understanding of library operations and inspired them to engage more deeply with the wealth of information available to them as students of library and information science.

The first-year students from the Department of Library and Information Science at the University of Kelaniya recently visited the Central Agricultural Library at Gannoruwa on 06th September 2024, a significant experience in their academic journey. This excursion allowed the students to delve into the specialized resources, services, and facilities of this agricultural library, providing them with a deeper insight into how libraries support the dissemination of knowledge and academic success, particularly in the field of agriculture. The students would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the Librarian, Mrs. B.Y.E. Nimalaweera, and Mrs. M.D.S Muthugala for their kindness in organizing and facilitating this insightful visit. Their guidance provided practical understanding of library operations and information management within the agricultural context. This visit has not only broadened the students' understanding of library practices tailored to agriculture but has also motivated them to actively engage with the wealth of information available as they progress in their studies in library and information science.
