Course Aims:

Intended Learning Outcomes:

At the end of the course, students will be able to demonstrate their competences on collection development, selection and processing of library materials and to distinguish and appraise different user services.

Course Content: (Main topics, Sub topics)

Collection development and management: acquisition procedure, selection, ordering, accessioning; Library technical processing; classification, cataloguing and physical processing services; Stock taking and verification; Introduction to user community in different libraries; Registration of users and Circulation; User education and new trends; Dissemination of information; Referral services, Inter Library Loan (ILL) and copying  services, Extension services, Community Information Services (CIS); Library cooperation, Library forums and Consortia.
