Course Aims:
Intended Learning Outcomes: At the end of the course, students will be able to implement Library advocacy and policy development programmes for the development of various types of Library and Information services and display the socio-economic and cultural leadership roles and responsibilities. |

Course Content: (Main topics, Sub topics) Library Advocacy and Policy Development (LAPD), definitions, Need for LAPD. Strategies, Development of an advocacy plan, Implementation and evaluation of advocacy programmes with reference to Sri Lankan environment; Major issues and threats facing library and Information centers and the role of library and information professionals and stakeholders. Role government in library development. (Group project to develop and implement a library advocacy programmes for a selected category of libraries will be assigned). |
