Dr. Ariyarathna Athugala is a retired Senior Professor in the Department of Mass Communication, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka. He is the former Chairman of Sri Lanka Rupavahini (TV) Corporation and also the former Director-General of the Department of Government Information, Sri Lanka he has been teaching since 1991. presently teaching advanced Placement Mass Communication (Honours/General), as well as MA, MSSc, PhD, and Communication Diploma courses. he is a prominent character in the art field as a teledrama director as well as an opera play and filmmaker.
