International Conference on Mass Communication is the first international conference dedicated to enhance the academic aspects of communication studies in Sri Lanka and to make a bridge between the academic and professional worlds.
As a pioneer department in communication studies, the department of Mass Communication University of Kelaniya was able to take the lead in academia organizing the 1st International conference on Mass Communication.
It will be held on 3rd May 2020 at the premises of the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka.
The conference will be held with the objective of fulfilling the lack of international research conferences in the country on Mass Communication and improving research skills of the Communication researchers. Providing assistance for the development of the country with the new knowledge gained through research was another objective of the conference.

Author Guidelines
Submissions should be, Original, Previously unpublished work Not currently under review by other publications.
Abstracts Submission:
- Less than 500 words. Must be written in English.
- Font size 12pt, Times New Roman font, single line spaced.
- With the exact word count, the abstract should not exceed one page.
- Include at least 3 keywords

All submitted abstracts will be reviewed by a committee and assessed on the basis of originality, significance, technical soundness, and clarity of expression.
- The conference chair reserves the right to remove abstracts from the conference proceedings that do not meet the requirements.

Instructions for Preparation of Presentations
- Accepted papers must be presented at the conference by one of the authors.
- If your abstract is selected, oral presentations are required in PowerPoint. You should allow 10 minutes for your presentation followed by 5 minutes for questions.
- Presentations should be made using MS Power Point (file extension .ppt or .pptx) format.
- Abstracts of all presentations accepted will be published in the conference proceedings.
- At least one of the authors of an accepted paper is required to complete paid registration at full rate for the conference.
- Failure to complete paid registration will result in withdrawal of the paper from the conference program and the proceedings.
- Any paper which isn’t presented at the conference will be excluded from the conference proceedings.
- Please hand in the soft copy of your presentation to the session coordinator at the venue of your session at least 15 minutes before the scheduled time of commencement of the session.

Instructions for Preparation of Posters
- Authors must handover the posters at the registration desk on the day of the conference.
- At least one of the authors of an accepted paper is required to complete paid registration for the conference.
- The display board for each poster will be 90 cm high and 120 cm wide.
- The Title, Names of Author/s, and their affiliations should be indicated at the top of the poster.
- The lettering of the title should be at least 3 cm high and the name/s of author/s and their institutional affiliations should be at least 2 cm high.
- The text and illustrations of the poster should be readable from a distance of about 1 m (font size: minimum 20 pt).
- The data should be presented in a logical and self-explanatory sequence.
