The communication research unit (CRU), Department of Mass Communication, University of Kelaniya, relaunched the โI and My Researchโ session, opening it to outside academics, especially to the Ph.D. holders who are in the field of media and communication studies. The objective of this initiative was to create a platform where the academic staff members of the department get the opportunity to be informed and enlightened by them as this will support the young academics to plan their Ph. D journeys.
The very first session of this series was held on 31st July 2023 at the Department's audio-visual studio. The day's presenter was Dr. Pushpika Ganegoda, senior lecturer in the Department of Languages and communication studies, Trincomalee campus of Eastern University, Sri Lanka. She joined the session through Zoom all the way from Trincomalee.
She briefed her Ph.D. research which was about the โRepresentation of war and culture in Sri Lankan cinema: an analysis of selected anti-war films and their audience interpretations.โ Further, she explained the challenges faced by her during her Ph.D. journey.
All the academic staff members were present at the discussion. The session was dismissed after a fruitful conversation and then having a nice cup of tea with the plan of gathering the following Monday for another compelling research discussion.
