The Department of Mass Communication hosted a thought-provoking guest lecture on "Communication Research and Western-centric Narratives" at our audio-visual studio on April 22nd, 2024,. The event, organized by the Communication Research unit, featured Dr. Kalinga Seneviratne, a renowned Australian journalist, podcaster, author, and international communications analyst.
Throughout the lecture, Dr. Seneviratne emphasized the significance of theorizing Asian knowledge, advocating for a more inclusive approach to communication studies. He highlighted the wealth of insights and perspectives offered by Asian communication theories, urging scholars to incorporate these frameworks into their research methodologies.
The head of the Department of Mass Communication, along with other academic staff members, were present at the event.
