The Sri Lanka Launch of Dr. Kalinga Seneviratne's publication "GeoPolitics and the Media in Asia and the Pacific - Pulling in Different Directions" was held on Monday, 16th December 2024, at 03.00 pm at the Sri Lanka Press Council.
This book, published by Cambridge Scholars Publishers in the UK, deals with how the media is fermenting big power conflicts in Asia and the Pacific region.
Dr Palitha Kohona, the former Sri Lankan ambassador to the United Nations and China and the Chief of the UN Treaty Section in New York graced the event as the keynote speaker.
The author, Dr. Kalinga Seneviratne is an international communications analyst, former Head of Research at the Asian Media Information and Communication Centre - AMIC, and is currently a Research Fellow at Shinawatra International University in Thailand.
After the keynote speech, Dr. Seneviratne delivered a speech on "Media's adversarial culture fuelling GeoPolitical conflict" at the launch event.
This event was jointly organized by the Department of Mass Communication, University of Kelaniya and Asian Media Information and Communication Centre (AMIC).
