A special lecture was successfully held on 17th July 2023 at the audio visual studio of the Department of Mass Communications. The session was chaired by emeritus professor Sunanda Mahendra. Communication Research Unit (CRU) organized the event with the motive of exploring novel and critical subjects avenues in the field of Communication and Media studies.
The 19th research discussion session, "I and My research," was successfully held on 27th February 2023 at the Department's audio-visual studio. The Communication Research Unit organized the discussion (CRU), targeting the academic staff members of the Department of Mass Communication.
The day's presenter was senior lecturer Manoj Jinadasa. Todayโs session is unique because the discussion was opened for the first time for the presenter to join through zoom all the way from the United Kingdom as he is reading for his PHD at Newcastle University.
He explained his major research fields: culture, communication and cognition, aesthetics, philosophy, psychology, and digital natives. Further he presented a few significant facts from his PHD study, which is about the rural young men, Facebook and same sexual relationships in Sri Lanka. In addition he explained how his research interests evolved over a period of time.
All the academic staff members were present at the discussion.
The session was dismissed after a fruitful conversation and then having a nice cup of tea with the plan of gathering the following Monday for another compelling research discussion.
The 18th research discussion session "I and My research" was successfully held on 20th February 2023 at the Department's audio-visual studio. The Communication Research Unit organized the discussion (CRU), targeting the academic staff members of the Department of Mass Communication to identify and understand each otherโs specialized research fields and discuss the significant findings. Further, to create a friendly, stress-free environment where the academic members can share their knowledge while having quality time with peers.
The day's presenter was, lecturer (Temporary) Sathushka Jayawardhana. He explained his major research fields which are Public Relations, Event Management and Entrepreneurship. Further he presented the key findings of his research works. In addition he explained how his research interests evolved over a period of time.
