The communication research unit (CRU), Department of Mass Communication, University of Kelaniya, relaunched the ‘I and My Research’ session, opening it to outside academics, especially to the Ph.D. holders who are in the field of media and communication studies. The objective of this initiative was to create a platform where the academic staff members of the department get the opportunity to be informed and enlightened by them as this will support the young academics to plan their Ph. D journeys.

The third session of this series was held on 21st August 2023 at the Department's audio-visual studio. The day's presenter was Professor Raguram, Dean, Faculty of Arts, University of Jaffna, Sri Lanka.

He briefed his Ph.D. research which was about the news in Tamil folk media. Further, he explained the challenges faced by him during his Ph.D. journey.

All the academic staff members were present at the discussion. The session was dismissed after a fruitful conversation and then having a nice cup of tea with the plan of gathering the following Monday for another compelling research discussion.

The second session of this series was held on 14th August 2023 at the Department's audio-visual studio. The day's presenter was Dr. Sugath Mahinda Senerath, senior lecturer in the Department of Mass Media Sri Palee Campus, University of Colombo,Sri Lanka. 

He briefed his Ph.D. research which was about the 
Impact of Indian TV programs on daily lifestyle changes in Sri Lankan audiences. Further, he explained the challenges faced by him during his Ph.D. journey.

All the academic staff members were present at the discussion. The session was dismissed after a fruitful conversation and then having a nice cup of tea with the plan of gathering the following Monday for another compelling research discussion.

The very first session of this series was held on 31st July 2023 at the Department's audio-visual studio. The day's presenter was Dr. Pushpika Ganegoda, senior lecturer in the Department of Languages and communication studies, Trincomalee campus of Eastern University, Sri Lanka. She joined the session through Zoom all the way from Trincomalee.

She briefed her Ph.D. research which was about the ‘Representation of war and culture in Sri Lankan cinema: an analysis of selected anti-war films and their audience interpretations.’ Further, she explained the challenges faced by her during her Ph.D. journey.

All the academic staff members were present at the discussion. The session was dismissed after a fruitful conversation and then having a nice cup of tea with the plan of gathering the following Monday for another compelling research discussion.
