At the end of the unit student should be able to:
Evaluate various trends connected with the study of media history and its application to the study of communication, with special reference to the media History of Sri Lanka. The student will be able to formulate the modern studies on the historical developments based on the developments taken place in Sri Lanka.

The segments will be split in to five media areas namely;
Newspapers, Periodicals and Books
Film
Radio
Television
New Media
The significant media historical events, trends, Technological, Ideological and other advancements in the above media areas.
