Academic Career

Ms Amali Uthpala Nandasiri completed her BA (Special) Degree in Mass Communication, with First class Division in 2013 for her first degree. She completed Post - graduate Studies, Master of Philosophy (M.phil) Degree University of Kelaniya in Sri Lanka. She won the 'Shelton Gunarathne' Scholarship for her Highest marks of BA (Special) Degree in Mass Communication Examination GPA 2012, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Kelaniya in 2013. She selected to the Best Student of Print Media (Sinhala), The Diploma in Print & Electronic Media Journalism in Sri Lanka College of Journalism, Colombo in 2008. Her research interests include Public Relations, Cultural and traditional Communication, Literature and Language, Print Media and Broadcasting Media. At present, she works as a Lecturer (Probationary) in the Department of Mass Communication, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka.

Academic Career

R.S. Rajapaksha is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Mass Communication, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka. He was successfully completed BA (Special) Degree in Mass Communication with Second Upper division in 2004. He was completed Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) Degree in the University of Kelaniya in 2013. His research interests include Buddhist Communication and Asian Religions Study, Cultural and Language Communication Study, Media Research, Print and Broadcasting Media. He has participated many radio and television programmes as a resource person. At present, he works as a Senior Lecturer (Grade I) in the Department of Mass Communication, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka.

Training Courses

Film and Television Media

  • Successfully completed a course in “Film Appreciation” held by the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune in 2009.This was a full time course of one month.
  • Successfully completed a course in “Technology and Production of Television programmes” held by the National Youth council, Sri Lanka in 1993.This was a full time course of six months and I have obtained a second division class recording best results.

(I have gained a practical and theoretical knowledge of  T.V programme production, organizing programmes, Photography, Recording, Editing, lighting, Script Writing, T.V Technology Make up creative writers.)

For my outstanding performance I was given the opportunity to work at above course as a demonstrator for the next batch of students who followed to the same course.

  • Successfully completed the Workshop on Strengthening Media professionalism and the NGO Media Interface in India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka for HIV/AID coverage held in Colombo, sponsored by University of Miam’s school of communication, Indiana’s School of Journalism and American Centre in Colombo in 2010.
  • In 1994, I followed a full time course in “Handling cinema equipment’ and short and documentary film production for six months which was conducted by the state film, corporation in Sri Lanka.
  • I have undergone a training as a newsreader at the Sri Lanka Television Corporation and have worked as a newsreader at the same.
  • As the practical studies for the special degree course in Mass Communication, I have followed a course as a producer at the Sri Lanka Television Corporation for six months.

  • “Shanthikarma Sannivedanaya”  (Communication via white Magic) The work based on “White magic Communication, Published in 2001.
  • An Artricle about Teledrama scripts and the edition of “Aeshwara Winsathiya” which included 2 scripts writings was published. This edition was sponsored by the Library Service Board in Sri Lanka , Published in 2001.

 

CREATIVE WORKS

(1). Director and the Script writer of the Short film “We love football”.

This film was selected among the final 26 films in ‘Shoot Goals Shoot Movies’ Competition Berlin Talent Campus, 55th Berlin International Film Festival, in Berlin, Germany in 2006.

(611 Short films had been submitted from the 75 countries for 1st round. 45 films selected for second round and finally they chose 26 short films for the Official cultural program to year 2006 FIFA World Cup in Berlin Germany. This Short Film selected for final 26 short Films.)

(2) Director of the   Documentary “Visitor’s at the Waters Edge" (Duration 26 Mints) which was  produced on behalf of  the Department of Zoology, University of Kelaniya and funded by Deakin University, Australia.

(3) Director and the script writer of the   Documentary Drama “Ranthali" (Duration 45 Mints) which was produced to mark the women's day on behalf of Sri Lanka women’s affairs bureau. 

(Telecast on National Television channel I, Sri Lanka on 5th April 2000)

(4) Director and the script writer of the   documentary about ecological sanitation “Green Talks" (Duration 15 Mints) which produced to International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent in Sri Lanka  (IFRC) and Stockhome Environmental Institute (SEI), Norway . in 2009

(5) Director and the script writer of the   documentary about Community Support Fund (CSF)  “Chithranganelage Kathawa" (Duration 15 Mints) which was produced to Canadian Miniciple Progremme,Canada in 2009

(6)."Ishwara Winsathiya"(55 minutes) the script and directed by me was awarded the first palace at youth film festival in 1994 and awarded the UNDA award for the best art direction in Tele Features.

(7) “Diulgahe Kola Sulage Visira Yathi” -Taste of Poison (28 minutes) the Script and Directed by me was produced to Department of Mass Communication in 2008.

(8) "Dhammi Tawamath Adarei" An experimental Short Film produced with Mass Communication Film Media Students (10 minutes) the Script and Directed by me was produced to Department of Mass Communication in 2013.

Achievements                  

      Television & Cinema

  • Won State Literary Award for Best Cover Design in 2000, Organized by Ministry of Cultural Affairs inSri Lanka . Won the first place the tele feature script of “ Ishwars Winsathiya” at the youth festival in 1994.
  • Won the first place in script writing at the youth tele film competition held in 1994.
  • The script of “Ishwara Winsathiya” was nominated for the three final scripts at the “ Unda Award” held by the OCIC in 1995.
