The Department of Mass Communication held a successful discussion with representatives of Ogilvy PR, Sri Lanka, on the 9th of May, 2023, at the Department premises. This meeting was held to exchange knowledge and experience to improve the BA degree program in Public Relations and Media Management.
Representatives from Ogilvy PR were initially briefed on the Public Relations and Media Management Degree program. Valuable ideas and opinions were then suggested by them for the improvement of the existing syllabus in order to meet the employee requirements in the PR industry of Sri Lanka. Further, Ogilvy PR expressed their willingness to share their industry experience among the undergraduates. The gathering was concluded after agreeing on how two institutions could collaborate in future to develop the Sri Lankan Public Relations academia.
Ms. Amali Fernando, Account Director, Mr. Hasitha Perera, Senior Account Manager from Ogilvy PR, Senior Lecturer Wijayananda Rupasinghe, Head of the Department, Senior Lecturer Dr. Achala Abeykoon, Course Coordinator of the PRMM degree, Lecturer (Probationary) Dasini Madurasinghe, Assistant Lecturer Dimuthu Jinasena, and Assistant Lecturer Sathuska Jayawardana from the Department of Mass Communication participated in this discussion.
