ජනසන්නිවේදන ගෞරව ප්‍රථම සහ දෙවන වසර සිසුන් සඳහා සමකාලීන මාධ්‍ය අධ්‍යයන විෂයට අදාළ විශේෂ වැඩමුලුවක් ජනසන්නිවේදන අධ්‍යයනාංශ ශ්‍රව්‍ය දෘෂ්‍ය මැදිරියේ දී පැවැත්විණි. එහිදී “දොස්තර සාෆි ඇත්තටම ගැහැණුන් වඳ කළාද? අශීලාචාර මාධ්‍යයේ සළුව ගැලවුණු කතාව - A Documentary” යන වාර්තා වැඩසටහන පෙන්වීමෙන් අනතුරුව සංවාදයක් ද පැවැත්විණී. මෙම අවස්ථාවට මනෝජ රත්නායක, ආචාර්ය රංග කලන්සූරිය, තරිඳු ජයවර්ධන සහ බිම්සරා ප්‍රේමරත්න යන අය සම්පත්දායකයින් වශයෙන් සහභාගී වූහ.

A special workshop for Contemporary Media Studies was held in the Audio Visual Studio of the Department of Mass Communication on 26th September. The documentary, Truth Behind ‘Secret Sterilisations’ of Dr. Shafi, showed and it followed by a discussion with undergraduates of the department of Mass Communication. Director of the documentary Manoj Ratnayake, Dr. Ranga Kalansuriya, Tharindu Jayawardene and Bimsara Premaratne participated as resource persons for the workshop.

A special Video production workshop for Undergraduates of Mass communication held early this month. Basics of Multi-camera Production, Audio and Video Mixing, Light Control etc. were covered in the workshop which held in studio of Department of Mass Communication. Senior Lecturer Darshana Somarathna and Senior Lecture Mangala Pasqual participated as resource persons and active participation of undergraduates is appreciated. Following the workshop Undergraduates produced three Successful TV programs.

The First Undergraduate Research Symposium of the Department of Mass communication was held on 18th & 19th July 2022 Via Zoom. Symposium was conducted as an 'Online Symposium' considering the circumstances surrounding the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic and economic crisis. Research findings of the undergraduates of the batch 2017/2018 were presented at the symposium, as pre-recorded oral presentations. The pre-recorded oral presentations were played back in front of panels followed by a Q&A session where students joined virtually for a live discussion. 53 research papers presented by undergraduates in 06 sessions conducted via Zoom. Papers presented under following topics.
• Social Media
• Political Communication
• Covid-19 and Contemporary Issues
• Print media and Radio
• Television 
• Cinema and Creative Communication
